DESCRIPTION

Overview:

A very honest, mechanically strong example that drives extremely well. In my opinion a fabulous starter classic or one to be enjoyed on a regular basis and perfect for longer tours.

Finished in Metallic Silver Blue, with a matching colour coded hard top and a Navy fabric roof both are in excellent condition. The interior has been re-trimmed in Grey Leather with a contrasting piping.
The veneers have been updated, and a matching gear lever and handbrake cover along with a Nardi style wood rimmed steering wheel have been fitted.

Rather than a laid up garage queen, it has been enjoyed and well maintained. Not a show winner but a very presentable example at an agreeable price point that is mechanically sound and drives very well indeed.
Although exempt, it will be presented for an MOT test after we have carried out a mechanical inspection, addressed anything needed and carried out an engine service.

Maintenance History:

The history file contains plentiful parts receipts and maintenance invoices for engine services/gearbox/brakes etc the bulk of which are from 2005-2011 when the car was in more regular use. Importantly there are two invoices from 2011 (circa 5,000 miles ago) showing the engine out gearbox seal and rear main/crankshaft seal being replaced totaling almost £2000.

MOT certificates are present dating from 2001-2016 (with most corresponding invoices & emissions reports) The odometer, backed up by steadily increasing MOT's shows 118,186 miles (this will steadily increase as I am enjoying it currently!) DVLA records show the car having 11 registered keepers, the previous two keepers being husband and wife so in the same ownership for the last 8 1/2 years with the V5 being transferred from one to another after the owners passing in early 2023.

It starts briskly and immediately falls to idle, the engine runs smoothly and pulls very well. The gearbox shifts up and down the cogs swiftly and smoothly. I've owned and sold numerous 6cyl and V8 SL's and personally find the straight six provides ample performance that suits the driving style well with the welcome benefit of surprisingly good fuel economy.

The wheels are in very good condition and it the tyres are free from damage and have excellent tread depth.

The overall bodywork is good, as mentioned above it’s by no means a concours car but very presentable! There are signs of previous re-painting, with a few surface bubbles here and there an areas that could be improved without a large outlay, something I am happy to discuss further. The chrome has light pitting in certain areas but overall very good, importantly the bumpers are solid as these are surprisingly expensive now.

The fabric roof is in excellent order, the colour is strong with no fading and has no rips or damage including the rear windows. The hardtop is similarly good, with very little of the usual corrosion to the lower areas, and the headlining is tight and damage free. Inside there are a few signs of general wear but nothing heavy, and only a small crack to the usual area to the left of the instrument binnacle. The veneers are a later addition so in good condition, as is the steering wheel, gear knob and hand brake lever.
